Re: New Hampshire Central Railroad (NHCR) Discussion

Thanks Casey. Yes, I knew about the logistics side of things, just wasn't sure how frequently it actually happens. Haven't yet managed to be lucky enough to catch one of these moves, there are some great shots on the ex B&M and MEC between Hazens and Groveton.

Re: New Hampshire Central Railroad (NHCR) Discussion

How often (or "not") does NHCR make moves to Hazen? Sounds like it is very infrequent.

Re: Delaware & Ulster Railroad (DURR) Discussion

Not sure why DURR would need 2 M420s, OR where 2 M420s would even be available right now... I guess M&E still has at least one sitting around, but there aren't too many still around that aren't currently earning their keep daily that I can think of.

Re: Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX) discussion thread

I don't have any horse in this race one way or the other, other than hoping to see 501 running again at some point, but I 'm just going to second the motion that whatever the back stories and raw feelings and frustrations may be, Mr. Smythe will hopefully reconsider his comments about tossing out wh...

Re: LMS, No. Maine Junc.

So what is LMS going to be if the new owners are just leasing the current operation to Burkhardt until it has a chance to relocate? Seems odd.

Also surprising that CMQ didn't just buy LMS (or that Burkhardt wasn't forced to sell).

Based on that description, the MLWs are in better condition than their alleged "replacements"

Re: Dover & Delaware River RR

Sad how much of a microcosm example of the impacts of more widespread decline these branches are. Just 20 years ago, trains ran 5-6 days/wk with 20-30 car trains being about average EAST of Washington. Now they would probably be thrilled to fill out just ONE of those trains in a week. There were sti...

yes, Ridgefielder lays out the correct corporate structure. Everything in the us including GTW, DWP, CV, GT (NE) was under CN subsidiary GT Corp'

Re: Woodland Pulp LLC/St Croix Tissue

Yes, even "back in the good old days" very few individual mills ever supported their own full train other than whatever local(s) served them. 10 cars a day of outbound finished product is a pretty substantial volume, probably roughly on par with what Woodland was shipping (again in terms of outbound...

With "potential" exceptions of a few minor industrial/yard details or other little post-NS "adjustments" that may not spring immediately to mind, those schematics look substantially correct.

R&N in NEPA

Just wondered if someone might be able to post a current summary of days/times/symbols for R&N ops in/out/around Pittston (i.e. Mehoopany, Bloomsburg Br.-Keyser Valley, former LV south of Pittston, etc.). (if not too far off topic, current Lehigh RY. typical ops are also of interest). Thanks!

Re: Binghamton Railfanning

Not to hijack and maybe or maybe not of any interest to the OP, but this might be a good opportunity to ask for an update on current days/times/symbols for NYS&W between Binghamton and Syracuse (i.e., which days north, which days south, typical crew calls or times in and out of Binghamton, usual sym...
