F40s #4119 & 4120 led Main/Bergen County Line train #1171 yesterday to Suffern, NY. I'm hearing there could possibly be another locomotive shortage, but can confirm if that was the reason the two F40PH-2CATs were back in service. Ben https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=623CVCZ6Y9M&t=48s I found...

How much do njt engineers make? Copied directly from my testing invitation. "Salary: Under the current labor agreement, the entry pay rate is $27.85 per hour to $39.78 per hour upon LETP promotion. Additional pay rate increases are according to the collective bargaining agreement." Also, ...
Hello all, Just rec'd conditional offer for AC program. Taking physical this coming monday and start date is 1/29 contingent on background / physical / drug test. I got the offer just one day after interviewing. Everything moved very quickly from applying to testing to interview and physical all wi...
Hello, About two months ago, I applied for the NJ Transit LETP, and I was wondering how long does it take for them to send out the invitations to take the test? I see my application on the website has been at "pending testing" status for about a month now, and I've been frantically checkin...
Good luck. Keep up with the college classes. Think about picking up a trade somewhere too. You might need to do something like swing a hammer for a few months if you get cut off. Thank you, right now I really appreciate the luck. I'm waiting on the official letter for testing. The stakes are MUCH h...
I've decided to resurrect this thread because I think I have made a decision that appeases both my family and myself. Becoming a doctor is not working out for me, the classes are a breeze but it's just not something I'm interested in (I was very unhappy and my parents saw it). My mom wanted me to fo...
For NYP if you're looking for pizza, try Don Pepi. The slices are pretty good, especially for being "train station food". If you want something with a bit more flair, walk two blocks down W 32nd Street towards Broadway into Koreatown and try this place called BB.Q Olive Chicken. It's a Kor...

If NJT were to buy anything to replace the PL42, it would be a BBD product and likely derivative of the ALP45DP. The PL42AC's are still relatively young in terms of a locomotive, not going anywhere anytime soon.
Off topic but if I may ask, it seems lately that the river line is plagued by mechanical failures almost daily. Are these GTW units in that bad of shape?
I believe 4218 may be alive and well. I thought I had seen her running around the M&E last fall. Might be confused with 4219 though.
Perhaps something among the lines of a Stadler FLIRT? Given that there are already catenary lines in place it would be more efficient to have an EMU run the Dinky rather than the diesel GTW units that are found on the RiverLine. If NJT wants a BBD product, they have the Aventra, or the talent.
I'm wondering the same thing. I can't find anything.
Spotted 4202 and 4119 in South Orange heading west towards Dover/Gladstone on the M&E. Was moving at a good clip. As soon as I saw the nose of 4202 appear, I knew I was in for a treat.
