Re: New Atlanta Station

Is the "Gulch" still available? Yes and No. The Gulch is in the process of being developed by a private developer, which hasn't included a transit station in the official development plans. However, as part of their development agreement with the city of Atlanta, they are required to leav...

The Ex. Three Rivers route would be a good alternative permanent route for the Three Rivers due to higher population from Akron eastward to Pitt. This would also put the train on the routing of it's legacy incarnation, and with it being on an all-CSX routing, there would be no dispatching handoffs i...

Remove if off topic, but here's an interesting, but purely theoretical use of a Slumbercoach in a way that is relevant to my current housing environment. As a college student railfan currently living in a traditional dorm, an exotic idea for a college or university to quickly and cheaply add a few d...

There should be four new stations on the proposed expansion: One in Maple Park, one in Cortland, and two stations in DeKalb, of which one would be downtown at the former train depot, and another in the vacant land just south of the NIU campus. Having the terminus next to the campus would leave plent...

Interesting development.... however I'd hold off on a victory lap just yet. I've yet to see any indication that Alabama has agreed to provide their portion of the state funding that's required here. Gov. Ivey has held fast over the years (and thru multiple re-election campaigns) on not funding this...

This sounds like it's going to be just as successful as the short-lived Las Vegas Limited that ran during the summer of 1976 on a weekend-only schedule. In other words, a total failure.

That's wonderful news. Hopefully UP won't fight MODOT on the return of the second frequency. I also have a question concerning passenger rail expansion in Missouri. While I know that it will also require a local funding match before it can be built, was the state portion of funding to pay for a new ...

If he hasn't already, the Governor of Missouri has two days to sign the FY 2023 budget into law. Has he done so yet, and more importantly, is the funding for restoring the second Missouri River Runner frequency still in the budget?

I heard that the Wolverine route is now starting to feature Venture equipment as well. It sounds like at least one trainset (with the exception of the Business Class/Café cars, which aren't available yet) on the Lincoln Service and Wolverine routes, are now using Venture rolling stock. I have a few ...

While it appears that the MBTA proposal may be dead now, the Amtrak proposal doesn't appear to be thanks to the amendment in the bill. As an Amtrak service, this route could be set up much like the successful Downeaster in terms of frequency and onboard service. While this wouldn't be as frequent as...

So even if this bill passes, provided this new amendment remains in the bill, it sounds like the state would only be prohibited from spending state money on an MBTA service expansion to Manchester. Technically, there is nothing in the wording of the amendment that would prohibit the state from spend...

? What we need to do is start writing and calling Missouri legislators and demand that they appropriate the necessary funding to put the second frequency back in service. In your letter or phone call, threaten to vote them out of office if they don't do what you're asking them to do. If they still ...

Buses would be handy to provide thruway services to increase the utility and connection of the trains. If you have a train like this , that appears to have excess capacity , then using connecting bus services to full the train is cost effective. If for example they can spend $ 1 miilion on bus serv...
