Re: Amtrak to overhaul 12 CDOT P40DC's

Question - with M8 units expected to take over Shoreline East services in a few weeks, how many diesel locos will CTRail need on a daily basis to operate NHHS and any remaining SLE diesel services? Between the newly-rebuilt GP40s and the in-progress P40 overhaul programme, that's a fleet of 18 locom...

I think it's because the Silver Meteor and Silver Star are running as combined trains until later on in the year, but in all honesty its current consist should be the model as to what every LD train should be: five coaches, two diners (counting the Amfleet cafe car since that can be converted into ...

 by Graeme Salt ¦  Sun May 01, 2022 3:37 am ¦  Forum: Amtrak ¦  Topic: Silver Star Consist ¦  Replies: 5 ¦  Views: 1042

I've seen a couple of recent reports of the northbound Silver Star loading to 13 vehicles and departing Miami behind three locomotives. This occurred at least on Sundays 6th March and 24th April. Does anyone know if this is a regular occurrence, and if so, only on Sundays or is it likely on other da...

Can anyone advise the status and typical usage of the B32-8WH fleet please? I had assumed they were mainly used as switching and work engines nowadays, but searching online I was able to find some relatively recent photos of examples of the type in revenue service.

I heard that these two F40s will be in service temporarily while NJTś GP40s are sent away for rebuilding. Thanks Fan Railer! Do you have any more information please? I understood NJT's latest fleet strategy wrote off all bar seven GP40s from revenue service, with retirement of the remainder ...

Neither one has run in revenue service since, they've both been under repair but have run in non revenue service. Work continues to allow them to return to revenue service. Thanks for the update. Obviously welcome news for railfans, but it does seem a little odd to be spending money on these given ...

Can anyone advise please whether 4119 and 4120 are being used regularly in revenue service now, or was the event at the beginning of September a one-off?

Interesting, but I don't think 4100 is the oldest is it? Aren't some of the 2Bs 1965 vintage?

Since my last post back in May of last year, I've managed to see and photograph two more GP40PH-2Bs that I was looking for. Both of which have shown up on the Atlantic City Line. #4208 seen here in July, passing a holding WPCA-20 at JORDAN in Pennsauken: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture...

Thanks, good info! Does it happen to give the mp at Pennsauken Transit Center?

Try this. https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Trenton/Pennsauken-Route-73-River-Line-Station Click on tram. Type in your stations. Thanks for replying, but I don't see where R2R gives a distance for public transport options, only driving/walking (which is the same with Google Maps.) Incidentally Wikipedia...

I'm looking for inter-station mileages for the River Line, or at least the distance from Pennsauken to Trenton - I've tried various Google searches but not come up with anything, so wondering if anyone has a mileage chart or similar?

CNJ liveried 4109 is on the 5.12 Hoboken - Mount Olive this evening, paired with 4100. I'm on it to MSU and they sound spectacular! If I'm not mistaken, I believe #4100 is providing the head end power for the train. I was told #4109 still has HEP issues. Ben Could be, but I'm fairly sure they were ...
