Looks like concrete ties are going in between Shea and Harold. Lots of stuff being done.

Railroad has to be taking advantage of the lack of people on the trains.

Been watching both LIRR and Amtrak doing a lot of work around Harold lately. I think the switch you are talking about has been there for a while. They just recently re-aligned the tracks to meet it. There was a new switch, crossover really, being put in by the tower. It was on the new track that was...

Looks like the Mineola Track Section Gang Shanty, to house the track gang in charge of maintaining Nassau Interlocking and the Oyster Bay Branch.

I believe there is a trailer at this location today, just west of Willis Avenue between Willis and Main Street Xings.

I doubt that it has anything to do with the weather. It appears that the outage is still going on, with additional non-crossing work, occurring. It probably has to do with the politicians getting involved as usual. They are trying to look out for the best interest of their constituents however this ...

Rocla (the manufacturer) went bankrupt because of that.. Not quite true, Rocla is still in the business making ties. In-fact, they were doing so well that they bought out their main competitor in the Northeast, KSA, who manufactured concrete ties in OH. Rocla made most of the bad ties for both the ...

It looks like track 10 has been removed in the platform area. Just guessing that this will be where the new platform for the Brooklyn service will be going. It also looks like a new switch was installed at the east end of track 9 during the Easter weekend. Lots of work going on around the railroad, ...

Looked like some surfacing equipment on the pocket track.

Tamper regulator and stabilizer.

It's definitely a mess, not something that can be cleaned up easily. The terrain or lack of access to the track area doesn't seem to be helping the cause. Skipping Westbury and Carle Place Stations seems to be an easy answer, slowing down, stopping trains, and then re-accelerating in this area for j...

They were doing trackwork on the single track between Garden and Hempstead

It also looked like the signal department was replacing a gate at Franklin Ave.

Lots of work going on around the RR.

No one got hurt, that is very important.

Hopefully something can be learned from this so it won't happen again.

Speculation doesn't help anything or anyone. Hopefully the facts come out and something positive is taken away from it.

There has to be more to it. Spending 5+ million dollars on track improvements, 2 new high level 10 car platforms, associated building and 3rd rail work for 1 large event, and other smaller events doesn't seem like a great investment. However, upgrading the infrastructure with the intention of haulin...

Cool video.

I'd guess it ends late afternoon, maybe around 4 or 5 PM judging from the sun and shadows.

I'm sure the neighbors weren't too thrilled with the whole process, especially the hammering in the middle of the night, but at least it is down and now just has to go back up.

Looks like the timetable is set-up to fit in trackwork between Mineola and Hicksville.

Weekend work on the Port Jeff would probably be concrete tie work, similar to the project just performed from Sayville to Patchogue in March and April.

Interesting mention of turning electric trains at East Williston - my guess is that both Main Line tracks were de-energized just east of Nassau Tower making the use of this track segment on the OB Branch to turn trains a good move... MACTRAXX Electric trains were turned on the Oyster Bay Branch uti...
