Re: Boat Strikes Livingston Ave Bridge in Albany, NY

With an empty Barge n the loose along with the boats, they were lucky that barge missed the bridge piers at LAB! With the current and ice pushing on that one pier via the large white boat, the barge impacting the runaway boat could have done some serious damage. I was half expecting to see th...

Re: Boat Strikes Livingston Ave Bridge in Albany, NY

The ice buildup on the Mohawk and Hudson rivers was quite impressive. I was beginning to wonder what impact the ice would have once the temps climbed above freezing after that weekend storm. Temperatures in the region were generally at or below zero, with a biting and dangerous wind chill. Frankly, ...

Owned by NJT, as is Newark penn. Only two NJ stations not owned by NJT: metropark (Amtrak), Newark airlink station (PANYNJ). Trenton has the larger ADA compliant flappy board, and is augmented with several PID screens throughout the station.

Re: "Lost" stations on R3 West Trenton?

I think a reopened Roeloffs (with parking) would do great business, especially in the glaring geographical absence of the Newtown branch or any stations between Levittown and Trenton. Funny you mention this gap. There are some who want to re-open morrisville as a joint service NJT/SEPTA station. I ...

Re: "Lost" stations on R3 West Trenton?

Was out riding around looking for interurban & railroad remnants a bunch the last few months. Right by where this "parkland" stop was, the namesake road paraleling the rail line bows out toward the rail line. Wondering if this is where it was, or if it was by the dead end street. Now that the leaves...

Re: Amtrak Vermonter (Montrealer Amherst Boston CT River Lin

I have a question. Why does the vermonter not stop in Charlestown, NH? Just reading up on nerdy historical stuff & noticed the vermonter passed through there, and that other options for travel aside from private motor vehicle are somewhat limited..

Quiet zone officially proposed for Woodbourne Rd

So, it seems someone has the idea to make the crossing at woodbourne rd (west trenton line) a quiet zone. http://www.middletownbucks.org/2016%2006-06.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Item 8 a under board of supervisors. I have used the west trenton line more than any other SEPTA li...

Re: All Silverliner Vs out of service due to a structural de

Just in time for this catastrophe, the rough weather has started up. Really sucks for all involved. Any word on which exact pieces of equipment specifically locomotives will be leased (road numbers would be great if possible)? Also, just going to put this out there: Every SEPTA engineer I've ever ta...

Re: Train 89 Incident

Adding insult to injury, there was also a trespasser strike in the vicinity of cornwells heights station that evening & a grade crossing incident with two fatalities in illinois. Very sad day for amtrak. Hoping all involved take a deep breath and find the resolve to get through this difficult time..

Blueliner by Wayne junction?

The other day I took a train from somerton to market east. I noticed an old blue painted car sitting near the active tracks by Wayne junction. Is this a "blueliner"? I don't take the train into Philly frequently, but I'd like to go back & get a photo of this curiosity..

Re: Southwest Chief Derails In Kansas

There are "farmer" access crossings for equipment to get to fields all over this area. Wondering if one of these played a role. Engineer deserves a pat on the back for protecting his charge as he did with the mentioned emergency brake application..

Since trains cannot access those tracks directly from the east, it makes no sense for them to. At least that's what I always thought..
