In addition to 9946, you don't want 9945 either, those of course are the Colin Ferguson cars which used to be 9892 and 9893. 9771 of course is the original M3, and I was looking at the other numbers and saw 9770, and I'm thinking that's a M1 car, the last. Will keep those scrappers in mind. I am going to wait until the M3's start rolling off long island and than try and get a better deal going through the scrap metal dealer for the M3's instead of going through the LIRR.

@longislandtool, if I went in that direction and waited for the M3's to start heading for the scrapper, who in fact does the scrapping in terms of a company if you would know?

I am going to give it a shot and see what happens, in the meantime I have to get in contact with the purchasing agent and see if I could get a good pair. I am just a regular person who loves trains and happen to love the M3's so will see what I can do.

I'll be ordering mine in a couple of days, doe anybody know if Athearn will offer the LIRR MP15's in the other colors they ran in? I am going to send off an email to them asking them to do a future run of the LIRR's SW1001 gray and orange diesels.

Rapido is going to run LIRR FL9's? Aren't the FL9's in production different than the ones the LIRR ran? LIRR ran FL9 AC's or something like that.

was their a budd plant in Shea Stadium yard itself being that they did work on cars like these their? I have seen photos on the internet of subway cars in the same location testing on LIRR tracks as well PATH train cars testing on those tracks, what is the story behind those photos?
