For the first few weeks of trackwork, before platform extenders were put in at Cortlandt, ability to use track 4 was pretty much limited to Amtrak trains. This created single track operation for MNR trains on a part of the railroad where scheduling happens to result in frequent meets. Thus there wa...

its because they still havent fixed all of the power station problems from sandy, so they might run electric from broad street west to drover/MSU but they will run diesel broad street east to hoboken so they do not overload the substation thats not running at full capacity. And that is any different from your complaining Cruiser? Dutchrailnut has taken over for you since you left. I thought you left because you couldn't stand us. So why come back? That itch to be right? Yeah sure we like to complain but we do it in style. Maybe you'll learn something from us at the Po...

but if srock (or any other of the employees who formerly contributed here) gives you information, you take it as fact and thank him Ok Thanks Srock. And Cruiser, yes I am new and not particularly ashamed of it. I am a train lover and a relatively new commuter on the Gladstone line (and to NJT) - an...

I forgot to add.....the crew was the usual guys working the 9 car MLV....So maybe it wasn't that. Gladstone not being able to take 2 9 car MLVs is very plausible...maybe that's what it was. That is the reason [/u][/i]. There's no "maybe" about it. I don't know why srock still chooses to w...

It wasn't a grade crossing incident. Keep on posting incorrect info though... seems like the inmates are running the asylum here.

Main and Bergen County Line Inbound Midday Service is going to have some changes come May 17th. Between 9:00am and 9:10pm 24 out of the 28 trains will see service changes. Some are as small as 1 minute other are as large as 25 minutes. Where did you see this? Are there changes on the Newark Divisio...

Quit complaining about the post. It's normal observations.
Likewise, some dolt could be telling you to stop complaining about CNJ's post. But there I go playing devil's advocate...

Comets should be fine. No need to have the extra capacity of Multi Levels when you've left out about a third of the state from being able to use the service. The good news is that since the service is still about 2 hours from end to end, and to bring a group of people, you'd have to take out a seco...

Gratuitously offensive. This isn't civilized conversation, it's an insult. All I have to say is jesus christ. This place is a cesspool of stupidity that revolves around the little foamer children or the truly stupid and ignorant adult railfans; CentralValleyRail and SecaucusJunction falling into th...

I've been in a really good mood recently so I thought I'd jump in here and knock some sense into the less informed patrons. As always, allow me to add the disclaimer that Jeff Smith rules. That should go without saying seeing as I am the originator of said term but due to my absence I felt that I sh...

As you say, there are no train numbers printed on tickets. Also they are good 'till used, even if that's years from now. You buy a ticket between Raritan and New York. You ride a rush hour train and get off at Newark, with your ticket, and run to track 1 or 2 and ride a train from there to New York...

I've struggled with the decision to return to this board in order to comment on this, but decided that since this was indeed how John and myself first became acquainted it only seemed right. John was a good employee, a great friend, and an even better person. I won't regale you with stories other th...
