I figured I'd share this with you this morning... it boggles my mind. I know there's a format to posting links/articles, and I apologize for being remiss, I'm just going to post the URL and the line that peeved me so. Article: http://gizmodo.com/5825349/this-200+ton-earth-worm-is "Right now, th...

Indeed, Flickr is a great way to host up to 200 photos for free - I really dig their site layout and such too. When you upload an image it will automatically make it availible in several sizes. Although just for simple and fast image uploading and resizing, http://www.imgur.com is usually my choice ...

Tool/MACTRAXX/Doc and others, incredibly interesting yet sad info - certainly answered my question and then some. Thanks so much for sharing.

As for filming railfan videos in Trenton, I have never partaken in such activities, I have this thing called a job which takes up 98% of my time. Oh silly me, that was your alternate personality TRE who does that. And I bet you actually believe that you don't shoot railfan videos because you probab...

Trains are usually instructed on extreme weather days to only open every other door to keep cool/warm air in the car as much as possible. One reason that no commuter RRs have this is sometimes people can be a little..moronic (if that counts as a word). Bad things would happen at higher rates of spe...

It just seems kinda weird that both inspections the conductor did not collect. Is Amtrak's service becoming bad? Please elaborate on this correlation between service and having's one ticket promptly checked. There is a continent with awful rail service called Europe where they forget to collect tic...

This happens to me every now and then on commuter RRs around NYC. I just then throw the ticket away. Beat me up about my view if you want, but I view using an uncollected train ticket again as theft from the RR. So it's someone like you that caused me to find what was seemingly a perfectly good tic...

Hey everyone, I don't think this has been discussed before (or at least I couldn't find a discussion). A few months ago I had my first experience with the HBLR, and it was the first time I ever noticed a train in this country having those "buttons" to open the doors only when someone is ac...

I have a rather naive question if you don't mind... does the Cannonball go down the main or Atlantic line? I live a decent walk from the Valley Stream station, and it'd be nice to stroll down there and try to capture some pictures if it's a nice afternoon.

I did not realize until just now that train 254, the Friday only Greenport train, now serves wines from the wineries it passes through! Now getting it over 3 cars is highly unlikely, but still good to see something new! I wonder if they'll just have it run with passengers from Jamaica next season? ...

As lovely as forrest hills station is, it's not a station i'd recommend using, too many trains bypass it. Use the station for what? I assume you mean commuting, but perhaps I'm unsure. I'll assume commuting. sooo.... Good advice as usual HBLR! Let me call up my folks who live in "Forrest"...

By the way, I see this 'somebody has to approve diesels in the tunnel' theme quite often. Does anybody know a good reason why these dual mode units would have a problem getting approved for the tunnel, assuming they get approved for any other part of the railroad? After all they'd still be a nuisan...

The outer tracks of the NEC are practically Penn Central these days. C'mon guys, we put men on the moon but we can't solve the enigma of railway potholes?
