I think I may have an answer. Albany & Rensellear Steel Co, which you may find reference to . They rolled rails in Troy. This I believe later became the Burden Iron works. Burden had at one time the largest water wheel in the wortld, ( over 40 ft. high and generating several hundred horsepower )...

Thanks for that information. I had no idea they had a wye. My grandfather who worked for the Central said something about wyeing troop trains in the fifties, but I never knew where. He said that some troop trains would come up via Utica, Rome, Richland and return via Carthage, Lowville, Utica. Why t...

I assume they run the power up to Philadelphia and turn them on the wye. There isn't a wye on Drum is there? I don't think I would turn 6 axle power at Massey, I don't even know if the wye there is still in existence or in service. The KCS units were turned, they were both short hood leading, so the...

My conductor said he watched it go North thru Parish after dark Friday night, which means they didn't tie the train down at Ft.. Drum before midnight. They went south thru Adams at 0900 Saturday morning, so I expect they left Drum around 0700. They must have dropped the northbound and picked up the ...

I don't follow the traffic that much in the St. Lawrence. But, this morning, Saturday, July 21, I was in Adams and saw a bunch of flat cars headed South over the road and just figured they were on the rear of whatever the southbound run thru is numbered this week. Well, I headed down to Mannsville a...

Just to give everyone a heads up. The deadline for comments to the APA on their end run around the ruling handed down on their attempt to destroy the railroad is Monday, May 7th. The address to send comments via e-mail is SLMP_comments@apa.ny.gov the option favored by many supporting the railroad is...

I think I have a pic of it. But I think He painted the whole thing caboose red and covered the NYC logo and number. If I can find it and scan it, I try and post it. Took it with my Kodak Instamatic 104 Camera which came in the bright yellow Christmas box Those were the first cameras with the 35 mm f...

Let me correct that. That was 50 years ago. Well before the PC merger. How time flies.

No that isn't the rail city caboose. My father knew the owner of the property and I remember visiting the caboose over 40 years ago. The guy who owned the property and bought the caboose as a camp, was named Harry Jenney if my fading memory serves me correctly. His story was..... He Went to Utica an...

I was on the train. I have some Kodachromes of the trip, was probably standing in the gondola in the pic posted passing Bryant's Sand Bed. I thought I remember two rs-3's on the train, but maybe there was just one. The train was sponsored as part of the 150th anniversary of the City of Rome. Beside ...

Amen ! You hit it on the head. I don't have much computer skill, but someone should post a recent column in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, ( ADE ) entitled the Adirondack Crab Bucket. That really nails how Keet , Tony, and Goodwin have operated. It is very interesting reading, And research Keet's ...

I hope the poster rephrases his claim and issues you an apology Tony I know your too busy handling the Keet funded attack on the Lake Placid Line to have involved yourself with this minutia. I know you have better things to do. Get that track ripped out as soon as possible. I'm starting to think the...

Those Post Cards could very likely be mislabeled. I have bought a few, ( non railroad ), that were not the village or scene on the label. It could be Lebanon, NH for that matter, only one letter has to be typo'd to be in a different state. Some of those shops produced thousands of different scenes. ...

Could it be along Erieville Res. at Erieville, a few miles northwest of Lebanon ? The line ran close to the water a way's north of the hamlet.
