Re: Fare evasion

The ADA gates also function as gates for larger-than-life Americans, and people with luggage. And yet for some idiotic reason, 2 of Airport Station's 3 ADA gates are at the entrance that doesn't get hordes of people dragging luggage along. The old airport station at the turnstyles next them was a l...

Re: Fare evasion

Is the T still having thoughts of the POP "Proof of Payment"? or did they change their minds. Cause the Type 8''s are set up to run with one operator if they wanted too. They 8 have door set up switches like they do on the rapid transit cars where you can set the trains doors to operate from the fir...

Re: New Orange and Red Line Car Acquisition Process

Gerry am I to understand in your last comment,"The couplers between cars in a pair have been removed, further limiting flexibility as the cars age." Am I to understand that they refitted the cars B ends with permanent drawbars as the #1 and #2 Blue Line Cars have. Or am misunderstanding your comment...

Re: MBTA @ 50

The blue line got its color because of its destination Revere where the ocean is and not because it went under the harbor. I forgot about that and it sounds plausible. May be im misraken

Re: longest commuter train?

I know this is not part of the length of the train. But I will say back in the 80's before the T bought the 1500's and the 1600's. It was a great time at north station seeing various equipment from other railroads that the T never bothered to remove or paint over from the original owner. Example SEP...

Re: longest commuter train?

Re: MBTA Police or local police

Well I have been around the T with a few, now retired, talking to a TPD officer and being on scene with many an inspector when someone who is verbally being told to leave. The PO took over and was asked to leave the property and the party still refused and was subsequently arrested for trespassing a...

Re: Girl hit by commuter train in Lawrence - Fatal

Well Russ I have heard many a person struck and killed or permanent injured will attempt to bring legal action to get something for their loss or injury. Most don't successfully win because they got hit on private property and was at the time trespassing when they were hit.

Re: MBTA Police or local police

I will say this photos or not, photo rules etc. The MBTA property is private property and they have the right to enforce if they want to be a pain loitering on MBTA and move you along off the property. I have seen it once where the photographer had a photo permit (yellow card) but was acting smug an...

Re: MBTA Radio Frequencies?

Also this was also done so all lines, PD, etc could talk to each other in any situation without having to go through OCC and the OCC can patch or link the radios with their consoles too. Only exception when there would be no two way radio's used is for a suspicious package or suspicious item. The re...

Re: Transit Day at Seashore

From talking to a few members who ran and attended it, For what was used and could be used they did a great job with so little. Also quick note @ Johnnhrr Boston use Type numbers for light rail/ green line and number series for the rapid transit cars. ie: #4 East Boston Cars (blue Line) 0600-0669. H...

Re: Integration Of Ato Signals For Red And Orange Lines

If the blue line was to get ATO or CTBC it would of happened. Besides they were looking on placing ATO on the blue line years ago but they decided not to and stay with Wayside 40 with trips and timing lights, because the line was too small.

Re: Blizzard of '78 and the mbta.

I lived on Avalon St Revere MA and I was 7 years old and where I lived was across the street from the blue line at the time. There was many feet of snow on the ROW of the Blue line. My dad didn't want me to stay ther and we went to my grandmothers at Lechemere. we had to walk from Revere Beach to Ai...

Re: Red Line Train *Bangs*

The breaking system is not train air so the operator cannot stretch or compress the cars like the CR does., yes the air bag suspension being too low could cause that and the other issue with the low air bag is if they are low can also cause the cars to bump and hit the platform when it arrives in th...
