All crossings have been replaced from Clinton to Harvard. All new 136# rail. Crew working in Lancaster near Neck Road South today.
Please point thread back to discussing facility upgrades to main lines, terminals and yards. Thank you.
Yes, CPKC can access New York, for they own the D&H, have trackage over the West Shore, and access over CRSA. CP no longer has access to the CRSA in New Jersey since the divestiture of the south end of the D&H to NS in 2015. CP retained ownership of the D&H north of Schenectady (CPF 485...
CSX uses the former Conrail road channel of 160.800MHz on the B&A but also uses 160.680MHz on what was the former "NA" Dispatcher portion and 160.560MHz on what was the former "NB" Dispatcher.
While reading "The Historical Guide To North American Railroads," I was a bit confused by the Atlantic Coast Lines logic. I mean, merging with the Seaboard Air Line instead of consolidating your holdings? I know it'd eliminate duplicate routes, but it would make more sense to merge ACL an...
Please re-point thread back to discussing track, yard and terminal improvements made by CSX across former Pan Am routes.
“PSR prevented NS from buying all of Pan Am” How so? CSX went through PSR mode, e.g. consolidating functions beginning in 2017 two years before NS did. That permitted CSX to move on from full PSR and begin to look for other opportunities to better its network such as their Pan Am acquisition while ...

It just didn't make sense for NS...
Searching through the last few tabs of the infrastructure thread, and outside of the rail for the Worcester Mainline, how many rail trains have there been so far and where was all of it dropped? Anyone see what size rail was on the trains? Then there is the additional welded rail for the Downeaster ...

In 1989, the Worcester Route Main Line opened for auto traffic only for forwarding to to the Ford distribution yard just east of Ayer. These trains were run by Conrail as far as the Hill Yard. A local Guilford crew would manage the switching and bring empty auto racks back to the Hill Yard for picku...
Where did the name "The Borg" come from? Have any meaning?
Surprised that CSX has not started a tie replacement program on the Stony Brook and Lowell Branch to pull the 10s out and get running times improved between Ayer and Rigby. Pan Am installed a lot of new rail over the past few years, even on the MBTA owned segment between CPF-NC and CPF-BY, but no ne...
CP should have never sold the old Canadian Atlantic Railway back in the mid 1990s. However, they had just worked the purchase of the Delaware & Hudson earlier in 1991 and believed the eastern Quebec, Maine and New Brunswick trackage was no longer a revenue generator to the overall CP system. One...
