Has anyone heard any updates on contactless payments on the Regional Rail (not onboard payments, but tapping a credit card instead of a Key at the platform readers)?
I heard this was coming "early 2024"—so hopefully it happens before the summer.

I just read that the online activation for multi-rider is coming soon. For now, you have to call.
Has anyone figured out how to activate multiple riders on a SEPTA Key card without calling SEPTA?
I heard that the website would allow you to do it, but I can't seem to find anything on the site to turn it on.
My biggest gripe with the Key card is that it's difficult to get outside Center City. In any of the Center City stations, you can just go to one of the vending machines, order a card, and you get it right away—very convenient. Outside Center City, you can get one at station ticketing windows, but ma...
At this point, the Silverliner IVs are reaching their 50th birthdays—a milestone that the Silverliner IIs and IIIs did not reach during their service lives.
It's pretty impressive that these MUs have come this far, without being loathed by the riding public. They have held up remarkably well.
The station replacement project must be moving ahead: the latest round of Warminster line schedules has adjusted service significantly: Significant schedule changes are being made on the Warminster Line due to the construction of the new Willow Grove Station. During construction, an existing track t...
It's a shame that none of the Silverliner IIIs were saved.
I enjoyed the Airport IIIs especially with the plush seats and wide aisles.
Septa commuter rail has no restrooms on board. Did you know that some of the Bombardier coaches did have restrooms, as did some of the Silverliner IIs (#201-216)? All of the restrooms were either removed during refurbishments—or if they remained, were locked, with all the fixtures removed. I saw a ...
shortening the line names down to a letter... which is the opposite of what they did to the rail lines I'm so glad someone else sees the irony here. I really would love to hear how SEPTA thought they could simplify the rail lines by getting rid of numbers and color codes. The obvious thing would ha...
Are they using the lower level of NRG / Pattison to load trains?

Several years down the line…does anyone know what happened to 9001? Was it saved?
Plenty of US cities use tap-to-pay credit cards / Apple Pay. New York, Los Angeles, and Miami all allow you to just tap your phone or credit card and go. No surcharge over buying a regular ticket from a TVM—though in LA you can't get a day-pass except for via a TVM or app, so you could potentially p...
Regarding the parking, it has been wonderful to park at SEPTA stations for free when I have to go into the office. I believe SEPTA should keep parking free. If they want to enforce that only fare-paying riders use the parking lots, the obvious move would be to tie parking to the fare reader—enter yo...
History is full of simple, effective, tried-and-true technology that nobody wants to bother with anymore. Most people these days have their phones with them at all times, and want to be able to simply tap that phone against a reader and go, without any additional software, hardware, cards, or coins....
