Took #30 from CLE to WAS. It was 2.5+ hours late leaving Toledo, The reason was the prime mover, Amtrak #60, was ill. Amtrak borrowed N-S 7609, an ES40-DC. Besides the 2.5 hour delay departing TOL, they announced on the PA noted as a freight prime mover, it was slower speed than the passenger ones. ...

Thanks, I'm surprised I can get that close, albeit after ~17 hr, journey.
I will ponder for a while.

My alternative is to come back to WAS on the #30 a day early and drive up 95 (boring...) with my friend.

Cleveland to Wall NJ?

So I'm looking at going from Cleveland to Wall NJ. Not sure it's practical but.... The https://www.nj.gov/transportation/refdata/gis/maps/RailRoadlines.pdf map shows the :CSAO/Freehold section, or NJ Coast line as passing at least sorta near to Wall. What's the best shot at this? There's the #48 LSL...

But, having experienced it firsthand, it still is a long trek from the baggage claim area to the Metro station's faregates and there are several areas where you're on foot between moving walkways (one of which was broken on a Monday and still out of service on Wednesday). There are also elevation c...

Thanks. It's quite extensive, and expensive. It will take up a lot of the current platform space at the southern end. One thing that puzzles me is on NEW ENTRANCE PLATFORM PLAN. It has an "Existing bridge to be replaced" that I've having trouble recalling. I'll have to look next time I'm t...

re: Silver Spring The Purple Line comes in from the west, swings north, then along Bonifant. https://maps.app.goo.gl/N6DVih6DhiywD75i8 What I think is a bridge for the Metropolitan Trail is crossing Colesville, on the north side of the CSX trackage. Now, in the middle of the Metro platform, about wh...

The only thing that would have helped would have been tunneling through Dulles and putting the Metro closer to the terminal. I came into IAD last fall and 100% agree with you. You walk about 33% of the way, that being the gap between the segments of barley-moving walkways. I'll regard this as a mis...

Is a short outage for switching HEP--> GND PWR, and later GND PWR--> HEP unacceptable? There's battery backup for some lighting, I assume.

Have I missed a discussion on the new {since I last traveled} fare classes?

#30 shows me coach vs. business, no Saver, Senior, etc.

Agreed. I would want a commuter bus like the 201 but starting from Glenmount. I forget if it is offered or not.
No such thing exists. The only BWI bus is Shady Grove, Burtonsville, BWi.

STrRedWolf wrote: Fri Nov 10, 2023 7:16 am I would not go further than that -- those who want WMATA go all the way to BWI obviously have not ridden the MARC Penn line.
Riding from Glenmont to Union Station to BWI Rail to BWI makes for a long journey.

Press coverage was that WMATA was paying $$$$

The chains vs. flappers was driven by the blind community,

From what I read, the proposed location will not be walking distance from the Metro stop, and shuttle buses would be required. I don't know exactly how far away it is.

Rapidly condemned, I suspect....
