Re: Locomotive Engineer entrance exam

The vocabulary part will be words that are most synonymous, such as 'practical' being most synonymous to 'practicable' since the latter word is used a lot within the operating rule book. The cognitive part will consist on sequencing and flow charts. Sequencing as I remember it would be sort of like ...

Re: LIRR T-shirts

I like the new safety green color on the site... I could imagine the yard crew in Richmond Hill all wearing that one! Good thinking with the new safety colors. I just picked up one in every color. Any more MU shirts though? It's been sold out since about 2 weeks ago.

Re: LIRR T-shirts

Guys, I know the guy that designs the shirts and runs that website from work. I just pre ordered the entire selection of shirts and he told me the diesel shirts are shipping this week and the MU stuff later on this month. He also showed me the other designs he was working on and I was blown away! Ca...

Re: Private Rail Cars at Willets Point

ajp,

You'd be lucky to find a handful of people left on the roster who know where the brake pipe is on your private car. Good luck with your endeavour.

Re: Old Wayside Signals/Section Break Signals

The term wayside signals largely refers to the signals between interlockings which exist on main track, not the signals of an interlocking. The one at Amityville is part of an interlocking and is used to protect the pocket on #1 track so that westbound traffic can be brought up against a train turni...

The gullible and misinformed powers that be would NEVER run a 13 car train because they're convinced it's not possible.

Re: Final design of Hicksville renovation project unveiled

That plywood that you mentioned was left over from a few weeks back when they did the concrete tie replacement. It was a barrier so the ballast wouldn't spray down onto street level as it was spread.

Re: LIRR P72 coaches... where'd they go?

Pack #616 went to New York & Greenwood Lake Railway and resides in Passaic, NJ at NYGL headquarters. It was purchased by them with plans to use it on a dinner train, but the idea never took off.

Re: NYC Railroad Station Eagle Day - May 15, 2015

It was circa 2006-2007 at the Clark show and you were peddling your books. You also had a GP38 bell and a number board for sale, "268" to be exact. I wanted to see if I could purchase the number board without the bell, but you got arrogant with me and ended up telling me I had to buy both, then told...

Re: NYC Railroad Station Eagle Day - May 15, 2015

If this were for any other historian, I think I would help, but I'll pass. Mr. Morrison was unnecessarily rude and arrogant to me at the Clark, NJ train show a few years back when I asked him about purchasing something for sale at his table. Since that incident, I refuse to buy his books or any publ...

Re: Final design of Hicksville renovation project unveiled

As I understand it, station track #1 (northern most station track) will be extended west along where the old Atlantic Pipe siding currently exists. The grade will be built up to match that of both Mainline 1 and 2 within the interlocking. If you pass Divide location 3 (the opposing set of signals we...
