Yep, hence the effort to kill the Dinky. I'll believe the light rail when I see it; otherwise, I assume it's PR cover for the real plan of replacing the Dinky with a bus.

Huh? These cars are not going to be powerful enough to propel a mixed consist. They are being purchased to replace the Arrows, not locomotive-hauled sets. There are no new power cars. It's a 3-car set with components distributed across the three cars. As I understand it there is only a single power...

In another potential bizarre twist, British HST power for the Talgos?

Are these new power cars going to be mixed in with the current trailers to form sets? Thus, eliminating all push pull operations for the bilevels? They will basically all become EMUs? Not all but some. The ALP-46As and ALP-45DPs will still of course be around. Whether the 1st generation ALP-46 flee...

So since the news of these things being cleared for additional testing, they've taken one of the six(?) sets in Philly out for a couple of overnight high speed runs through Princeton Junction and one trip up to Boston and back. Seems they still spend most of their time sitting in the yard. Not sure ...

I've had relatives in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex for decades now and I've been impressed by the growth of rail transit there in recent years. I have ridden TRE between Dallas and Fort Worth and it's a perfectly good connection as is - maybe add some Sunday service but no need for expensive high...

From Hilton Suites Boca Raton-- Brightline is not railfan friendly. At Orlando yesterday, I wanted a photo of the engine, and was quickly "jumped". Color Mr. Johnson "lucky" Agreed, I definitely found that to be the case. Having discovered that, I wasn't even going to try for th...

Princeton Junction in need of some TLC

I was surprised to notice the last time I was at Princeton Junction that the cones that have been on the platform forever now are presumably there to keep people from leaning against the railings, as the supports are completely rotted through and you're likely to fall off the edge if you're not care...

Glad to see that you got to ride the entire route. What Brightline has accomplished is impressive, and I hope that the ridership continues to grow. My trips ran on-time but we did have to stop and wait for an inbound train shortly after departing MCO. The new right of way, including overpass structu...

I hope you have a smooth uneventful journey and I think you'll like the service! I was impressed when I rode the entire route earlier this month. I gather you've taken Brightline before but now with service north of West Palm Beach it becomes a true intercity high speed train - something I never tho...

Semi related, does anyone know if brightline uses both locomotives at the same time? If the charger plus powered tender are both providing tractive effort, it could negate the effects. Assuming that both are reliable. Good question. When I saw one departing West Palm Beach this past weekend it sure...

I spotted some ALC-42s handling the Silver Meteor and Silver Star down in West Palm Beach this past weekend:
