They have in the past but they wanted nothing to do with it. Reminds me of an incident that took place in Middletown in the late 70s. Conrail was running the Coast Line at that time. Train didn't stop at one of the stations so when they stopped at Middletown all of the passengers got out and sat do...

Some nice videos and pics posted on Facebook of the first revenue use of the south leg. Thanks to the guys who were there to record it.

Not long ago, someone on one of these threads posted a bunch of pictures of rail still in existence on the causeway south of the "Junction" at Bay Head. A lot of it is still there. A few years back, a derrick was on that track right next to the loop and you'd find a caboose or bad-order co...

Just yesterday (20-Dec) it was reported on the Delaware & Raritan thread that two boxcars and a genset were interchanged to NWS Earle from the Southern at Collingwood. A report was given about boxcars being hauled to the pier and then back again. It's been a very long time since something was in...

It was really bad towards where it meets 18. Usually is during evening rush because of how that interchange is set up. I was up in North Jersey scouting for odd trains and elected to take the parkway home after my gps said how much traffic there was. If it were up to me there’d be a lot more rounda...

Farmingdale at 10:36 AM 2005 752 and 12 cars Was the new connection used? Or does it still have to be tested? I asked the question before I saw the video on FB that more rails must be placed between RR Ave and Southard. I'm sure there will be all kinds of coverage when the new leg is used the first...

@BattleshipNJ: Most of my observations of the old R&DB ROW from Red Bank to Rt 36 were from Google Maps. It is very easy to trace that old route. My interest in tracing it came from a Eureka moment while a passenger in my friend's car and I noticed the open ROW from Rt 36. (Normally when I'm dri...

Some of the long siding south of Marl Road is still there. Maybe use that for a runaround.

Saw a video earlier of a nice healthy nine-car train crossing Okerson Rd heading to Lakewood, 752 leading. Looking good. How many times did I go over Okerson Rd crossing wondering if I'd ever see a train there? (Thanks Jim, nice video)

The Earle railroad system is quite complex. Wyes and sidings all over. Great view from Google Maps to see just how extensive it is. Would make for a great N-scale layout, you'd need a pretty big room to do it in HO. It would never happen, but it would make a great commuter line to the piers. Minimum...

As far as the low-hanging wires at Okerson, could be the utility (Verizon?) strung the wires thinking the line below it was OOS and wouldn't be used anytime soon, so the height didn't concern them at the time, especially for Plate F rail cars. Back in my days of hauling oversize loads, we found quit...

Would that park be Winding River Park on Rt. 37 near the hospital? That's the park. Couldn't remember the name of it. On Rt 37 (not 73, my goof). The highway was under construction as was the park. It was a mess getting in there with a long load. No other rail cars were in the lumber yard, just the...

Not entirely familiar with Brown's Yard operations, I often wonder about the long trains coming across the Raritan going to Brown's. Other than the cars going to Red Bank andJamesburg, what are some of the other customers who get these cars? I don't get out that way often, so I have little chance of...

Not sure about other later loads, but the BG location on the TRIT received four long laminated bridge beams, 2' x 4' x 65' on flat cars. I hauled them on a 60' stretch flatbed down Rt 73 to a new park that was under construction. I think this was around 1979-80 or so. I just got my new tractor about...
