Re: Railroad companies that ran through Waterbury CT

So I ended up changing the final plan yet again, based on availability. The final, as delivered display was: MNR engine (Note I did not pay close attention to particulars of engines/cars), Guilford boxcar, B&M boxcar, Conrail covered hopper, PC covered hopper, NYNH&H caboose. Can't figure out how to...

Re: Railroad companies that ran through Waterbury CT

Thanks. I guess I'll have to make some compromises then based on availability. I've got a MNR engine (phase III, I think), a Conrail engine and a New Haven and PC heavyweight coaches. That at least will be representative of the roads, even if the equipment is not quite accurate.

Re: Railroad companies that ran through Waterbury CT

Due to price constraints I can't go with all engines and am limiting the display to roads that ran passenger service through Waterbury. This brings me to the question: Would Waterbury have seen baggage cars during the Penn Central era?

Thanks! I'll post a photo this week when it's done.

Re: Railroad companies that ran through Waterbury CT

Thanks for your response. I don't think engines for all will be in the budget, so maybe we'll have one engine pulling some rolling stock in chronological order.

Railroad companies that ran through Waterbury CT

A fellow at my job is retiring this month, and it has become known that he is a model railroad hobbyist. Since his office is located in Waterbury, Conn., one idea floated for a parting gift is a display case featuring a engine from each era of railroading in Waterbury since the company was founded, ...

Re: Amtrak Vermonter Thread

For the last several weeks during the engine change in NHV, the electric will take off a coach as well (NB). I assume, but haven't noticed, the reverse happening SB. On occasion I've seen two coming off.

Re: Man Climbs Cat pole and Get Electracuted

I didn't know that death, or near-death is the "deserved" result of theft, assuming that's what was going on. The lack of compassion routinely displayed on this board for those injured or killed in rail-related events (caused by their own actions or otherwise) staggers me.

Proposed Berlin Station Rennovations

Looks like Berlin may be getting some rennovations; the romantic in me would be sorry to see the quaint, run-down, old-timey feeling of the station become more efficient and useful. http://www.courant.com/community/berlin/hc-berlin-train-station-0112-20110112,0,2393640.story "BERLIN — — Residents ma...

You actually don't know what you're talking about with regard to the coffee suit. It's not my job to teach you, but go read something about it before you make snap judgments. Having educated myself to a reasonable degree regarding this suit, I have essentially come to the same 'snap judgment' concl...

Re: America's Coming High-Speed Rail Financial Disaster

As a blanket rebuttal to many of posts above, the "arguments" presented are classic ad-homenim attacks, questioning the motive of the arguer and ignoring the argument. The bias of an arguer does not affect the validity of an argument.

Anyone have a guess as to when/how they will make the final move to NHV? I'd like to catch them going by.

Re: "High Speed Rail" and other hot button issues.

That you disagree with the operation of Amtrak is fine...that's your opinion. I and others reading here respect that. But in fairness, you should also allow a greater variety of contrarian views as to why Amtrak should be allowed to continue to operate. I hardly think there's an imbalance of too ma...
