Someone managed to get a photo of it before they sent it out. As far as I know this was taken yesterday or the day before. http://indianarailroads.org/board/index ... 33%3Bimage

I haven't heard very much about this project since they ran that Amtrak special last year. FDOT did state they would offer $118 million for the project, but it should be noted that this was said prior to Rick Scott entering office. I have my doubts, but this seems like a drop in the bucket compared ...

I disagree that the lack of WiFi is really hurting ridership. Not everyone brings their laptops with them. In fact more people are probably on their phones if anything. That said though, WiFi probably helps increase ridership when it's available. Everyone loves free internet, even if they are alrea...

As much as I'm bummed about FL rejecting the money, I'm glad to see someone's got their priorities straight.

Weren't they originally planning to have it on the Northeast Regionals back in October? No, Amtrak put out a press release last year (summer IIRC) that they were planning to add WiFi to all trains in the future, with the NE Regionals and California trains to be added, but did not give any dates. Wi...

Building new station tracks under the current station was one of the alternatives looked at under ARC. As for building the new station tracks to the south of the current station (refered to as the block 780 plan), it would definitely require cut and cover construction practices to be employed. So i...

Here's a question I've not seen addressed anywhere, but which I think could be immensely important long-term: Given that this new plan ties into Penn Station, and at least partially provides through-tracks, are its tubes sized sufficiently as to allow Superliners or other standard bilevlels to fit ...

Menu looks a lot more appeasing than it did a few years ago when I last rode Amtrak. For reference, here's the 2005-06 menu . Complete with magic-marker deletions! I love professionalism. Would it be too much to ask to have a few little square matching-font "SOLD OUT" stickers printed to ...

Why hasn't the Cardinal had a baggage car in so long? Would I be correct in guessing that there weren't enough cars in stock until now?

Assuming it's using cellular signals... The very short version of how the system works is that each car has a wireless access point that you connect your computer/mobile device to. These access points then connect to the outside world using Mobile WiMax (IEEE Standard 802.16e) via antennas buried a...

I can't wait to hear how well it does, both on reliability and usage. Assuming it's using cellular signals, I gotta wonder if there are some dead areas on the route. Particularly in northern Maryland where I clearly remember a large dead zone.
