Lots of great information in this thread......I have learned quite a bit about railroading in this part of the world. Coming from a supply chain background, part of the "fun" is trying to understand where we go from here and the "why's"........ Here are links to the release from ...

great info... goKeefe I'll give Nestle credit for looking into the future..... Trucker availability appears to have stabilized for the time being, so getting to/from Maine does not appear to be a big issue this summer, unlike last summer......but we all know these factors are cyclical, and truck cap...

I Didn't say that Water will not move by rail again, however Nestle's short term strategy is to not use 3rd party storage locations to keep extra product in proximity.......It may be cheaper to help pay for extra storage capacity on the customer side........ Any water headed by rail to North Jersey ...

Nestle is not storing any water in any intermediate storage locations for the time being...........if you want PS, you will get it straight from Maine via truck..........Swiss bean counters now involved........

There were some rumors a few weeks ago on the NYSW/Susquehanna Yahoo boards about NYSW getting a big new garbage contract from CSX, IIRC. Maybe the River line is too busy with oil and other high-value traffic to run garbage on, so they are lettting NYSW take the garbage to Syracuse to hand back to C...
