Did any of the Santa Fe's 2 SD45B or 8 SD45-2B engines survive into the BNSF era? And if so did any make it to full BNSF paint ? I can only seem to find "patch job" BNSF photos (maybe that answers my question).
yes the SD45B's and SD45-2B's did survive until the formation of BNSF. However, both SD45B's were retired and disposed of rather quickly. Several of the SD45-2B's are still on the roster but are stored. None of these units were ever repainted for BNSF, though the SD45-2B's were renumbered several times.
