The incredible £2.3bn train line set to transform one of the world's biggest cities
Over £2.3 billion was invested into a metro line in the Brazilian city São Paulo which halved riding time into the city centre for commuters.
Brazil’s São Paulo Metro is one of South America’s biggest megaprojects. The £4.8 billion project will see South America’s largest city experience an expansion of its metro line.
São Paulo metro sees around 5.5 million commuters a day, having the busiest metropolitan rail network in the region. The project will see expansions of lines and the construction of new ones to make getting around the city easier.
Currently, a new line called Line 6 is under construction which will travel 14km and have 14 stops on the line. It is due to be completed in 2027.
Additionally, Line 2 will see an 8.4km extension with eight new stations, also due to be completed in 2027.
