Announcement about the under-construction Blue Line
RT has activated high voltage wires above the light rail tracks along the Blue Line to Cosumnes River College (CRC) light rail extension currently under construction. Stay clear of this high voltage area and the overhead wires, which are extremely dangerous!

RT will be operating light rail test trains between the Meadowview Station and the new Cosumnes River College Station starting later this month. Testing may take place at any time during the day or night, and will continue until the opening of the Blue Line to CRC light rail service in September 2015.
That announcement was undated and apparently old.

Home - Riverfront Streetcar Project Its route:

From a loop around the Sacramento Convention Center, the route goes west-north-west to the Sacramento Valley Amtrak station, then southward to the Tower Bridge across the Sacramento River, and then across that bridge to Raley Field in West Sacramento. It then branches into two routes, one to West Sacramento City Hall, and the other to Riverfront and Garden St.

However, Sacramento streetcar rail line price tag soars, project in jeopardy | The Sacramento Bee Its originally-expected cost was $108 million, but three bids recently received are for $184 m, $190 m, and $206 m. The streetcar joint powers board is now discussing whether there is a path forward for the project. Will they have to scale it back in some way?

Sacramento RT in negotiations with Siemens Mobility for up to 76 light-rail cars: SacBee.com
Sacramento Regional Transit, the capital region’s leading public transportation provider, is in negotiations with Germany-based transit conglomerate Siemens Mobility to acquire up to 76 light-rail cars.

RT spokeswoman Jessica Gonzalez said the company is looking to initially purchase 23 light-rail cars through a joint procurement with San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System, with the first four cars being delivered potentially as soon as next spring.

Additional cars would be delivered in 2022, Gonzalez said.
...
The purchase is part of RT’s light-rail modernization program, which involves acquiring new low-floor light-rail vehicles, converting stations to accommodate them and installing a passing track to allow for faster Folsom service.

The Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) grants include $23.6 million to purchase eight light-rail vehicles, and $3.9 million to construct a new light-rail access tunnel on the north side of the multimodal Sacramento Valley Station (SVS) Transit Center.

The new SVS access route will connect the transit center to the future Railyards Plaza transit-oriented development.

The streetcar project has been heavily revised: SacRT approves new plan for West Sacramento streetcar line - CBS Sacramento
This new plan, which effectively sets the clock back to zero on the construction timeline for the streetcar line, was met with significantly more approval among SacRT Board Members than the previous line plan brought forward in the spring.
The project's home page: Sacramento Downtown Riverfront Streetcar Project – Sacramento Regional Transit District

The line will start at Sutter Health Center on the west side of the Sacramento River, cross that river in Tower Bridge, have a station at 2nd & Capitol, jog southward to N Street and have a station there, then connect with the existing light-rail line to go to the Sacramento Valley Station on that system's tracks. This was done for an additional reason: to allow for possible extension of the Sacramento light-rail system in West Sacramento.

Dos Rios Light Rail Station – Sacramento Regional Transit District - an infill station between Alkali Flat / La Valentina and Globe Avenue stations. It will be Dos Rios ("Two Rivers") station, on N 12th St., between Sunbeam Ave. and Richards Blvd.

The Green Line to Airport link is now a dead link: https://greenline2airport.com/

The Folsom end of the east line is single-tracked, and there are plans to build a passing siding at Glenn Station between Parkshore Dr. and Bidwell St.

With Google Maps, I checked on the tracking of this light-rail system. Starting at downtown,
  • (north: Green Line) - single - N B St. - double - Township 9
  • (northeast) - double - future Dos Rios station site - single - American River bridge - single - Globe Ave. - double - Roseville Rd. - single - Watt / I-80
  • (east) - double - Marketplace Lane & Folsom Blvd. - single - Historic Folsom
  • (south) - double - Cosumnes River College

Sacramento Valley Light Rail Station Relocation

Sacramento Valley Light Rail Station (SVS) Relocation Project includes realignment of the Gold Line track and station to a north-south orientation, a center platform, and interim storage tracks along F Street. The relocation is part of the City’s Sacramento Valley Station Area Plan that will connect SacRT to the Bus Mobility Center (Center) to provide a direct connection between the Center and the Airport. The project is being reviewed for environmental clearance and preliminary engineering.
F Street is on the south side of the relocated tracks. From the description, it seems that the track will turn northward on the west side of 5th St, will then will go northward to F St. and will then turn eastward.

Pretty map:

SacRT on Nov. 29 reported that its $500 million Light Rail Modernization Project is slated to hit “high gear” in 2024, as it adds service frequency, introduces a new fleet of Siemens Mobility S700s, and continues platform modifications along the 43-mile, 53-station system.

Starting in January 2024, SacRT will be extending station closure times for Gold Line platform modifications “to speed the construction timeline.” Also, during the first six months of the year, it will work to add a passing track section near the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station in Folsom. This will provide Gold Line riders 15-minute service to four stations from Hazel to Historic Folsom, SacRT said. Currently, trains operate every 30 minutes to Folsom area stations; having a new passing track will allow two trains to operate through Folsom at the same time, doubling service frequency.
