BR&P wrote:Otto, is the RGVRRM helping out the Big South Fork Scenic Railroad from Stearns KY on the restoration of their LV 95110, or is that a typo intending to be the museum's own LV 95100?
A typo, thanks for pointing it out. And of course, I had to look up the 95110... Quite a different animal from our 95100! No porthole end windows on our cabosee... http://lbplatt.rrpicturearchives.net/sh ... id=1217872

Otto, that's because the two cabooses are farther apart than their numbers would suggest. The LV had several groups of these built over about 9 years, and the numbering was a bit strange. They began with 95050 and went up to 95103. From there they went 95001 to 95049, then took up with 95104 and went up from there. So the 95100 and the 95110 are actually somewhere about 59 apart, and came from different groups which helps explain the differences in the windows (among other things).

Everyone is welcome to attend our next museum membership meeting! The program will be The Empire State Express with Chris Hauf, presented on Thursday, February 16th, 2012. We meet at the 40&8 Club, 933 University Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607. The museum store opens at 7:00pm, a brief business meeting takes place at 7:30pm, and the program begins around 8:15pm. This is a FREE event. Come one, come all, and learn about New York Central's Empire State Express! Our museum has saved several coaches and an RPO that were originally built in 1941 to re-equip and reintroduce the Empire State Express... http://rgvrrm.org/about/railroad/ese/index.htm

Slight program change, from presenter Chris Hauf: "One quick note, I will be changing up my program again. I am just not where I want to be to present on the ESE, and really want to take the time to get it right to do it as a future presentation. In its place, I will be doing a program on a trip I took in 2006 as part of the American Association of Private Rail Car Owners (AAPRCO) convention train with coverage from Albany through New England and ending at Steamtown in Scranton, PA. The program will have both still images and video. Plus I do plan to have a little bit on the ESE too with highlights of some of the restoration work we have done on our passenger cars."

If you pick up the April edition of Railfan & Railroad, you'll see an article about our Lehigh Valley caboose. It is an interesting story about how the acquisition of equipment in 2012 is wrought with obstacles, both financial and physical. A lesson for anyone interested in preservation.
