Railfanning and Riding MTS Light Rail

Hey, in the end of September I'm going to be in San Diego. I plan to do quite a bit of photography and riding the light rail system. I have ridden the Blue Line in it's entirety. I'm interested in riding the rest of the system.

What are popular places for photography?

Which neighborhoods should I avoid getting off of the light rail?
