Q410 vs Q438?

Hey guys,

I have a video of a train I caught and I am trying to figure out whether the train is either Q438 or Q410. Both trains traverse the High Line through Philly and I caught one of the two. Are there any distinguishing features of one train vs the other?

When did you catch it? Q410 runs daily while Q438 runs only Tuesday through Saturday so if you caught it today, it would presumably be Q410. I did hear Q410 today around noon (which is well after you posted this) calling Newark as it moved eastbound. Had an es40dc leading although I forget the number.

Well I caught this train on Saturday April 23rd between like 1:00 and 1:30 about, and the reason why its been so long since I've seen it and posted is that I have not been able to find out anything definite on whether it was Q410 or Q438. I really appreciate your help, and as I understand from your explanation it still could have been Q438 since I caught it on a Saturday. I took some video of the train and my friend took these pictures:

If it helps narrow it down, those same two units I saw were seen two days before going SB in Bear Mountain, NY on Q417. Someone took this pic:

Before the economy sank, the 438 used to set off and pick up in Rocky Mount. Almost all the times it left, it had several gons loaded with granite somewhere near the head. I don't know where the granite was headed, so it may have been set off before it got to you. The 438 now stays on the main line and doesn't do any RMT work, but I occasionally still see glimpses of gons loaded with granite. I work in the yard, so I'm never on the road channel and I am unable to hear the train call signals, so I am only assuming that is the 438, but I don't know. After all, the G085 isn't the only train to carry grain.

Hey thank you very much for the help! I have recovered the footage and I watched it through. Here is the basic makeup of the train:

It was 39 cars.
It was almost entirely boxcars (aprox. 90%)
The 32-38 car were a solid string of black long tank cars.
The last car was a Grey SHOVING PLATFORM. It was one of those old flatcars converted with handrails for crews to stand on for reverse moves.

Can that info help narrow it down?

Could it be a local? I once saw CSX C759 in Pennsauken NJ with a grey shoving platform
