i saw this train last night on csx. it runs from chicago to syracuse. any idea why an odd numbered train is running east?

I've been wondering the same thing.

The denizens of CSX Service Design department have no knowledge of Odd numbers West and Even Numbers East, they have no concept of the fact the people in the field use a train's identity as a short hand identification of where it is going, what it is hauling and what work it is to perform along they way.

i've heard starting tomorrow that csx is making big changes to their intermodal train symbols.
