I don't believe VRE has ever owned any P40s, but AmtrakFan is correct they leased one, I believe only in 2003, as I haven't seen it for some time now. It remained in Amtrak colors and numbers (#830) and was usually assigned to the Fredricksburg line and consist of train numbers 300, 301 & 307.

I take it you meant EMD's F40, not GE's P40.

no Phil we mean P40's as in first generation Genesis, Amtrak has 6 for sale as per Railway Age magazine.
