Hello all,
565 is progressing very nice! Gary P. Bensman has been working with her since March and last Thursday & Friday his crew jacked her up and made her level for the first time in over 30 years. My crew has been working on removing the oil tank out of the coal bunker and needel scaling the cyinder housing and painting Rust converter on them.
Game plan is to restore 565 in two parts Tender and locomotive. While we are waiting on parts to be made for the lead truck we are working on restoring the tender . The leader of project 565 Steve Boonstra will be coming home from his tore of duty in Iraq some time early July and will start working with us again some time in October or November. He'll be doning family stuff in between those's months.
Here are a few photo's of the project.
Enjoy,

FIRST ATTEMPT TO REPLACE SMOKE BOX COVER , then we found out there are bolts bent so we are going to repace all 50.

Here's a video of this , it was taken by a crew member.
