The CURES folks are at it again, sending a letter to Gov. Cuomo and various "electeds" making a plea to halt MSW and C&D shipments from eastern Long Island by rail. The successful resolution of the recent "garbage crisis" has put freight rail in a positive light, so much so that the various players involved in resolving the recent "garbage crisis" are now at the table discussing rail as a long-term solution for removing eastern Long Island's waste stream.
Of course CURES won't have any of it, and they are petitioning Gov. Cuomo, state Senators, and various other electeds to halt what will ultimately be increased business for both NY&A and CSX.
Rail New York, the PRO-freight rail advocacy group for NYC and LI, has started an online petition of its own SUPPORTING the removal of waste by rail while also discounting the claims of CURES.
