Greetings - I commonly come across RR iron on an abandoned section of Santa Fe, Prescott, & Phoenix roadbed just north of Prescott Arizona. But I am at a loss as to what these pieces are... do you recognize what they are?

look like rail anchors, placed on rail snug against the ties. Spikes keep rail in place and inhibit side-to-side and roll-over movement. Anchors keep rails "set" so it doesn't move in the direction parallel with rail
