On the Rouses Point timetable, what is CANNON?

In St-Hubert ( Longueuil )QC. Junction between CN Rouses Point Sub. and CN St-Hyacinthe Sub. Cannon is the begin-end of the Rouses Point Subdivision in Longueuil. There is a nice pedestrian overpass where you can take pictures.

That's a great picture. Another interesting picture would be the reverse angle facing off the other side of the overpass.

Coming through there 18 months ago, it was strange coming off the line from NY onto the CN main. Just when surroundings couldn't have looked any worse, the trackwork suddenly became pristine.

Is this the way freight trains bound for the New England Central get down to Vermont from Montréal?

Yes it is. This connection is also how Amtrak gets between Montreal Central Station and the D&H to Albany.

Great photos, everyone. Thanks.

We took Amtrak to Montreal via this route (I guess) many moons ago on our honeymoon trip. I say "I guess" because we did leave Rouses Point and we did arrive at Central Station in Montreal, but I doubt I was looking out the window at this junction...

Nice memories!
