Back in September I had an opportunity to travel to NYC, and meet my ride in Middletown. After our meeting was done, I took a trip down town to see the station.

As I drove up, I swear I heard angles singing?

Spent a couple of minutes at the station:

It was depressing, I can not image that the station will remain much longer. It was trashed, run down, and not in a nice part of town.
I left sad.

Then I headed home, up 17, and got off in Roscoe, and wandered around the Museum.

Walked across the street to the Cars, I had not been to Roscoe since the trout car had been delivered.

Next took a picture of the cast sign. I had never heard of the "scoot", can someone enlighten me?

Nice stuff, I was up there years ago, but will have to get over that way again. Thanks for the pix.

I have a feeling it will accidentally burn down or the city will just order it demolished. Guess the last owner had no insurance, else the thing would have been rebuilt by now? What a damn shame, building has been exposed to the elements for seven years now. Oh well, at least we have HO models of it!

Thanks for the pics. I just passed the Roscoe museum today going to Cortland/Syracuse and back. Didn't have time to stop, but i will make a trip there when the weather gets warmer.

Well someone should go for the 300K, at least it can be refurbished and offer multiple office spaces upstairs, possibly a nice railroad-station ambience with a restaurant on the main floor could make it a real local hit, just as it was in the old days. A lot of the houses in the area must be going for at least half that, maybe cut a property tax deal a while with the city/county in the name of historical preservation for a limited time too.

Middletown isn't much of a good area anymore. I'm sure there must be nice parts of town, but every time I go there I get the feeling of being in a town that is sliding downhill rather quickly. A few people I know who live in Middletown agree with that assessment, sadly enough.

I'd imagine the station will end up victim to some arsonist's weekend plans for personal amusement and sit, as a heap of rubble, for the better part of a decade.
