Hello Midwesterners. I will be travelling to Cleveland in a couple weeks and I was wondering if anyone knew any good railfanning spots near Case Western Reserve university or the Holiday Inn in Strongsville.

Or, if there are any good active rail lines acessable by the RTA in safe neighborhoods, that would be great too. I will be living near the E 120th stop on the Red line on the RTA, so instruction from there would be great.

I will not have a car so I would need to take the bus or rapid transit to all of the railfanning locations.

You can get decent AM pictures from the RTA Red Line stations at E. 120th / Euclid and at University / Cedar. Both are on the same right-of-way as the NS (former NKP) mainline and the CSX mainline (former Short Line of NYC / PC / CR heritage).

For PM pictures, go to the West Side stations at between W. 117th St. and Brookpark Rd. These are on the NS mainline (Chicago Line).

You can also transfer to the #86 Bus at Brookpark and go out to Berea where NS and CSX are adjacent, but there is no shelter there.
