Received word today that the Shenandoah Valley RR will not operate weekly excursions this coming October, as it did in 2005 and 2006. Details to follow.

The Shenandoah Valley RR was unable to work out an acceptable plan to host excursions in Oct 2007. Bear in mind that the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley RR is the contract operator over tracks owned by another organization, and the passenger equipment belongs to Jack Showalter. For there to be rides, the contract operator, the track's owner, and the passenger car owner must all be in agreement.

That being said, a trip is to be operated on Wednesday, Oct 10, departing at 10 a.m. from Verona. The ride is only for Cargill executives, as Cargill is a part-owner of the railroad. The train will consist of two of Jack Showalter's cars - two diners and a coach and will probably not ride the entire length of the line. Get those cameras ready, buffs!
