MARC aims to triple service
28-year plan calls for more trains, track, 2008 weekend runs

This plan goes beyond extending MARC into Delaware.

The plans also calls for one seat ride to stops in Virginia, construction of a new Amtrak tunnel through Baltimore, rerouting of freight from the Howard Street tunnel along a different alignment to allow Camden service to be extended north, a new commuter terminal near Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the extension of the existing Baltimore Metro to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

An aside note, this plan will likely dovetail with CSX plan related to freight movement in and out of the Port of Baltimore

Sounds like they listened to my idea to reduce congestion I gave during the MDOT Summer internship.

Glad to hear they want to go to Newark. There are LOTS of UD students who will find this service greatly useful on weekends, and the auto plant has yet to shut down
