Made a road trip to various places in Illinois last month, including Tuscola, where the CN main crosses a UP main, and the CSX line to Decatur. It looked like CN possibly was building an overpass over the UP there, although it could've been a road. Does anyone know which it is? Dave

It's a road. IL-45 will go over the tracks, just west of the rail junction.

US 45 has had an overpass over the C&EI{UP}/B&O{CSX} for circa 3/4 century. Perhaps they are widening or rebuilding it?
The overpass was shut down for a number of months after the state deemed it unfit for the truck traffic. The new overpass is supposed to be done by late fall/early winter 07'. Looks as if the new bridge will not have as many spans as the old one because of the amount of dirt brought in to fill in the once open area south of the UP main, possibly only two or three spans.
