Anybody know if this is an automatic diamond or not? By that I mean: first-come, first-served. It's on the Mendota Sub.

It is a manual interlocking since Troy Grove local is the only job that works that line. You must contact the BN Dispatcher to get across the diamond. At the BX diamond you must contact that dispatcher for instructions before operating box on the signal mast.

I though that line ran down from Nelson and went down to south IL with about 8 trains a day. They're building a new connection at Edelstein for that particular line. If Earlville, then, is not the UP crossing for the Nelson line, where does the Nelson line intersect with the Mendota Sub.

You refer to the BX diamond; is that Earlville?

If the line you speak of going through Earlville that is the Troy Grove Sub which crosses the Aurora line and the Mendota line at grade. The other line that would be the Peoria Sub. Where they are currently building a connection. And the last time I was on the Peoria Sub there were no diamonds but its west of Buda and of course edelstein it crosses under the BN line.
