Hello everyone Im an engineer for Septa and run on the r6 Norristown line regularly and was wondering if frieght is still run on the old venice island branch in Manayunk? I use to see freight cars but now I dont. I do see old mills being converted to Condos and I think new condos being built. If the line is still used how many customers are on it and how often is it served?

The only freight movement on Venice Island a couple of years ago was a train to serve the Jefferson Smurfit paperboard mill. I'm fairly sure that this has closed now, but I can't find any closure notice for the railroad spur online. Anybody local care to take a look at what's going on there?
