It's got good and bad points. We get paid fairly well, right now 100% pay on the former IC side is $280/basic day for brakeman and $300/basic day for conductor. 10 hour basic day which can suck when it's really hot or really cold out. Extra boards work 11 on, 3 off and regular jobs are 6 days a week. The CN is kinda lax on the rules compared to other Class 1's. Where were you thinking of trying to hire out at?

Thanks for your reply.... Decatur,IL was where I was looking at.

Do they run a 3 man crew? How does the brakeman come in as opposed to a conductor? Brakeman does the job of conductor setting handbrakes, and operating switches?
