is there a website that has some hints on how to build routes on MSTS, I can't figure out how to even start. I'm only trying to make a VERY basic like, any hints at all?

Yes, the website to read is train-sim.com , Mike Vone has a excellent
book out on route building which can be purchased online.

If you are a person looking for hints, you should try asking on the 3dTrains fourm. You could get some really good help there. :-D
