After 20+ years as an "on the ground" railroad employee/manager, I went to a headquarters position where I encountered office drones (management and otherwise) who had no clue about what the company did for customers, or what daily life was like for front line employees. I found this disconnect to be problematic in many ways.

I've since learned that this is not unique to railroads.
