As I understand it, back in the day the Dupont facility in Parlin, NJ on the RRRR was a substancial customer. Looking at the old ariels, it looks like Dupont got tank cars but now the area where the tank cars were delivered is now a grass field with all the buildings gone. Does anyone know what happened to this customer and why rail shipments stopped?

Discontinued production of whatever it was they were making. Don't recall what it was. Environmental factors and or a combo of both. What rail service was lost there was redistributed to Delaware. CR still made their money from them.

I had a relative that worked at the plant. Dupont in Parlin made chemicals for use in photo and film processing.

Well that would explain why it's no longer there.
