A Facebook post has said that Adelphia Rd should be open today or tomorrow. This same post also showed that some tracks have been built going towards Southard.

Ballast in Prestone to Okerson. Doesn't look tamped.
Still seeing a truck working Fairfield-Yellowbrook. No ties/track.
Looks like they are preparing roadbed 524-Southard Ave. Appear to be working from both ends, making good progress.

Adelphia Rd is still closed. Likely will be open by tomorrow/the weekend.

Overall, good progress on the route. Fairfield - Yellowbrook seems like it is the main thing holding this project up.

There is some sort of severe interference on their main radio channel. Hearing wailing sirens and monotones beeping noises that stretch on for over 10 seconds…

They swapped to channel 2 to avoid interference. None so far.

As to the police activity mentioned earlier, from the sounds of it someone was being unruly over there and may have been running down the tracks. Not exactly surprised. There’s a big tent city in between Route 88 and Cedarbridge. Drug hotspot too…

Someone mentioned a ballast hopper between Okerson and Prestone. A full-sized railcar? Maybe the first "real" railcar to travel the revitalized F&JA? Any pics?

Most likely a small ballast car pulled by a tamper. That’s how they’ve been ballasting so far. I would’ve gone to look but I was short on time

Hopper on ballast car can't be more than 20-25 ft long, hopper style bottom, very high sides. Not a regular rail car. Front end loader fills it with stone and it gets pushed down the track. It sat at Yellowbrook for a couple of weeks. Holds maybe 40 - 50 yards of stone. There's probably a picture of it somewhere in this discussion.
