McDonnell faces charges of reckless endangerment, theft and trespassing. He was released on his own recognizance.
Well, I was wondering what was going on with Light Rail last week when the alert came out for bus subsitutions... but I'd would of definitely set some sort of bail on this guy or at least got a fresh mental evaluation on him.

Looks like someone on spectrum who read the manual for the locomotive.
I'm surprised there *is* a manual in the public for a rebuilt LRV...

Police arrested and charged 21-year-old Aidan Francis McDonnell with trespassing, theft and reckless endangerment offenses after they say he took control of the MTA train on Nov. 3. McDonnell, a Severna Park resident, told officers that he drove the train out of the light rail shop located at Cromwell Station in Glen Burnie using a manual from the internet to get the 44-ton locomotive operational, according to charging papers.
Okay, I know what's going on. The guy got in from the station where there's a small "buffer" yard where trains can pull in, switch tracks, then pull out to the "light repair" facility yard. There's no gate, so he must of gotten in by foot, got onto the switcher, started it up, went down to the buffer yard, switch tracks around again, and got out on the main line.

I still have to wonder about the ATP system though.

Yeah, I'd have thought that someone at Dispatch would have notice the Blocks being occupied, and wondering "Who is that, it's not on the schedule"?

Well there was that kid in NYC who stole a subway train multiple times actually ran it quite smoothly without wrecking it in the 1990s…Now he is like 50 years old and just got recaught steeling a Greyhound bus

Darius didn't know how to sectionalize a train. I wouldn't say he ran anything "quite smoothly".
