A coworker this weekend showed me pix he took of two locos working Erie's test track: UP 5551 and GE 2005. What models might these be?

The GE 2005 is an ES44AC, not an ES44DC.

Also, I believe the UP unit is an AC as well, but I'm not 100% sure.

MEC407,
It is a C45ACCTE UP Designation.

Yes, I've noticed that UP doesn't seem to differentiate between their C45ACCTE units (which are actually AC4400CWs) and their new ES44ACs, in terms of what it listed on the rosters and stenciled under the cab window.

I thought UP used AC44CCTE for its (FDL-engined) AC44, and AC45CCTE for the five GEVO-engined prototypes they got in 2003 -- not that the GEVO engine is a hundred horsepower more powerful, but just as a way of marking the difference. So it's not too surprising that they'd use that for the production ES44 as well.

That is what I thought to be correct also.

So, to put it simply, they are both ES44ACs.
