Back around the 1970's or -80's we had some 20-footers broken into in North Philadelphia by some local residents. Imagine their surprise when they opened the doors and were engulfed by a cascade of bulk soybeans en route from Illinois to Japan (!).
A common (and therefore relatively inexpensive) container shipping route in 80's was a West-to-East (Asia->Americas->Europe->Asia...) round-the-world route.
