Fly Ash is going somewhere on the lower Montauk... Not potash, :-) . One thing it's used for is in water filtration processes, but it's used in a lot of other stuff too.

It would be in covered hoppers that are similar to concrete hoppers, but equipped with the piping for pressure discharge.

If anyone has seen the cars down there, or knows the customer, any info would be great!

Thanks,
Dave

Interesting. The MUs that had been sitting on the south side of the yard recently disappeared, and there was a construction crew working in the yard last week. Haven't seen any covered hoppers yet, though.

Update: looks like they are pouring concrete pads between the southernmost yard track and Railroad Ave. How does one hear about upcoming fly Ash moves?

Allied Extruders was busy - until they weren't. When was that? 2016 they closed down?

A little bit farther east, Nichols seems to have a lot of active customers.

Also, THE PLOT THICKENS. There was a guy walking the yard wearing a Watco Transload Terminals vest . He wasn't giving up any info though  Or maybe he's part of the WM operation.

Excellent thanks!

I think Watco moves the cars for WM, not positive.

I think that is correct about WATCO moving the cars at both Waste Management terminals in Brooklyn and Queens.

Fly ash is also a byproduct of when trash is incinerated. I think the Brookhaven Rail Terminal was supposed to have a fly ash move that didn't pan out. Good to see something else going on near Blissville whatever the move turns out to be.

In the past couple days, a large blue belt unloader appeared.

Yes indeed! Based on the tags, it looks like the same 6 cars from November are still sitting there.

Passed by today. There's now an office structure in place, scale installed, and a company name on the gate. The same 6 SOXX hoppers are still sitting.

Looks like a fresh cut of cars was dropped today
