Even the airport is closer to the heart of the strip than this. One of the selling points of rail is usually that you deboard and are immediately in the heart of the city. This ain't that.
The Strip is the heart of the Las Vegas as far as future Brightline passengers are concerned, not downtown Las Vegas. So for Brightline is concerned, downtown Las Vegas is not worth the additional construction costs to reach.
Also with Brigtline’s real estate investors are concerned, having 110 acres on the LV Strip will be far more profitable than 10 acres in downtown LV, assuming there is 10 acres available near downtown.

How long would it take to get from the station to the hotel/casino? Convention center? At least you are near a mall! And the car rental facility. I deem the new station shall be called: Cactus Junction. It's a gamble but I bet they will be a winner. And LV can always build a Monorail from the train station to the convention center.

More likely: Boring company extends its tube-and-Tesla network to connect to brightline (The city bought the monorail out of bankruptcy for $25m)

Quite a few years ago my wife and I visited Vegas and rode that monorail. My only complaint is that it wasn't a lot longer, didn't connect enough of the city. We were beyond surprised at the look and feel of the cars since we had many rides on the WDW monorail system in past years. I'd note that part of what I like is how quiet they are overall, fitting well into a hotel environment.

Very interesting development with XpressWest/Brightline West. I have been informed by one of the channels I watch that Brightline is linking for a Senior Vice President of Rolling Stock for Brightline West in Las Vegas, stating that they must have knowledge of ECTS, which most likely guarantees that Brightline West will be using Siemens Velaro coaches.

It's a best practice to post jobs outside, but it's in no way a requirement.

Private business can and do recruit a specific person for a specific job without any repercussions.

This is likely posted for one of two reasons --

1) They want to hire a foreign national and have to prove to Immigration that there are no US citizens able to do this role

Or

2) They want someone from one of their suppliers and there's a no-poaching clause between the two companies which prohibits Brightline from directly approaching that person with a job offer
