This is GREAT news! They can lift the Curriers to North Java portion out of the mud and possibly in the future have special excursions to N. Java again?

^Yes!

Supposedly work will begin in 2018.

I was hoping for this year.

The A&A has been brushcutting from Curriers to North Java.

Track rehab will begin next year on this section.

They're really opened up the right of way. I'll take some pictures soon.

You mean eventually I'll be able to go to Smokey's and not see "squiggletrack?"

Any word on exactly what type of work will be performed? Obviously new ties, but will rails be replaced? Any grade work, such as along the swamp?

There was a small section of heavier rail installed north of Curriers. The reflecting pond received a new culvert and was drained considerably. Other culverts were replaced. A lot of ditching is being done on both sides to dry out bad sections. Nearly 2 out of 3 ties were changed out. Ballasting and tamping will commence in the next couple of weeks. A&A crews have been running freight evenings to accommodate the track work.

#112 and #113 took 8 loads to North Java today (July 10) and will have 9 empties for their return train. The contractor for the rehab told me he had 6,000+ bolts to install and that work would be done in 3 weeks.
